RE*RE*RECONSTRUCTION

Proposal Art-in-Architecture project, Humboldt Forum Berlin, 2024
Situation Room

The proposal for an artistic intervention questions the reconstruction of the Berlin Palace and the associated representation of Prussian history in Berlin’s contemporary urban landscape. By placing full-scale mock-up façades in front of the reconstructed palace façade, the intervention reveals obscured historical layers. These fragments visualise architectural appearance across different periods, including the wartime destruction of the Berlin Palace, the Palace of the Republic, and the construction of the Humboldt Forum.

Through the dialogue between the reconstructed façade and the mock-up façades, the intervention opens up a critical reflection on architecture, power, and historical consciousness, making the site’s complex past visible.
