Forum Neues Wetter
Installation and public events, 2023
Based on the two flood events in Grimma/Saxony in 2002 and 2013, the art installation "Forum Neues Wetter - Über Klima, Boden und Teilhabe" (Forum New Weather - On Climate, Soil and Participation) addresses questions about a climate-friendly city, local and regional climate policy options for action and civil society engagement. The project initiators, consisting of the artists' collective Situation Room (Sven Bergelt and Kai-Hendirk Windeler) and the office for spatial design lfm2 (Christian Göthner), are creating a platform for events on the wasteland as a site-specific art installation as well as a temporary café to linger in. Representatives of the city of Grimma, the district of Leipzig, scientists and local actors will present themselves in lectures, talks, workshops and film evenings and invite people to participate. The wasteland in Paul-Gerhardt-Straße, which was created by the floods in 2002, will thus become a place where the change in climate and thus also the increase in extreme weather events will be addressed and green spaces will be seen as a potential for the future of cities.
